“Debra Gauthier aims to become Clark County’s first female sheriff” read the headlines of a local newspaper in Las Vegas.  Debra Gauthier, a candidate for sheriff, will make history if voters turn out in her favor on September 3rd.  In May, 2002, I filed with the Clark County Election Department and stepped into the race for sheriff.  A reporter describes it this way, “In a crowded field of ten candidates, gate-crashing the ‘good ol’ boy network she speaks of won’t be easy for her. But then again, the 20-plus years she spent working for the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department could hardly be called a cakewalk.”
